Revival Is Coming

If anyone has not noticed, God is up to something huge in 2020. 188 nations have been fundamentally shut down for months now because of the pandemic, including the United States.  I believe this is nothing less than a global purge of all the “little g” gods which the world…including the Church…has put in front of worshiping the One True and Living God.

All the inferior objects of our affection were stopped dead in their tracks, virtually overnight. Entertainment. Sports. Travel. Tourism. Dining. Business. Careers. Money. Education. Even our church doors were shuttered as if God Himself placed a padlock on them to keep us out. Why? Why would a sovereign Creator place the entire planet into this epic time-out?

“So be careful not to break the covenant the LORD your God has made with you.  Do not make idols of any shape or form, for the LORD your God has forbidden this.  The LORD your God is a devouring fire; he is a jealous God.”

– Deuteronomy 4:23-24 (NLT)

Our American culture is filled with idols. So too is the American Church. The wake-up call has unmistakably arrived. We have been driven into our prayer closets by circumstances beyond our control, but certainly not beyond His. The world is seeking its “new normal.” For the people of God, the previous normal we shared with everyone else must be replaced by HIS new normal and His ALONE.

“These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.  Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” – Matthew 6:32-33 (NLT)

He has set before His people a critical choice and a magnificent opportunity. Will we return to our buildings the same way we left them? Will we continue to worship all the “little g” gods of the American culture? Will we be content with a powerless, purposeless existence devoid of His Presence in our midst? Will we choose to fast and to pray, to humble ourselves before our God in confession and bitter tears? Will we resolve in our whole hearts to cast down every idol, every stronghold we have allowed to creep in and rob us of our peace and joy in Christ Jesus?

Beloved, we stand at the most important crossroad in the history of our nation. The Church will either rise up in renewed devotion to pursue its destiny, or we will remain in a deadly slumber while America and the world burns down around us. These Global Days of Prayer leading up to Pentecost Sunday are a trumpet blast from Heaven for the family of faith. Will we hear it? Will we respond? I passionately believe that we WILL answer the call to fast, to pray, to repent, to whole-heartedly seek the Kingdom, and to be carriers of Revival in the earth.  We were born for such a time as this! God bless you and keep you.
